Meditation
There are many ways of practising yoga asanas, meditating, pranayama, studying… It does not matter which you start with. To be complete we must incorporate all aspects of ourselves. Many people don’t practice meditation for various reasons; too boring, not enough time, your mind is constantly ‘on’, you cannot sit on the floor…so why not make it really easy!
- One minute is enough if that’s all you have
- Be comfortable–sit on a chair if you want
- Keep your breathing silent
- Stay upright
- Relax the entire body, including the face and eyes
- Rest your arms and hands in whichever way feels comfortable for you
- Don’t try to remove thought from your mind–if you want to think about something go right ahead
- Practice regularly don’t set a particular time–practice when you can
Over time you will find that it becomes easier; your mind will empty itself; you will be able to practice for longer. Make meditation a chance for you to do nothing but just sit. It’s one of the best things you can do for yourself!
With meditation you can:
- Reduce stress levels
- Feel like you’ve been on holiday
- Sleep better
- Get along better with people
- Get rid of destructive habits and behaviours
- Improve concentration
- Get rid of phobias and fears
- Improve your ability to accept yourself
- Be happier
- Change your health and your body
- Relieve chronic pain
